Socket preservation can greatly improve your smile’s appearance by increasing your chances for successful dental implant placement.

Several techniques can be used to preserve the bone and minimize bone loss after an extraction. The tooth is removed and the socket is filled with particulate bone graft. It is then covered with artificial membrane, or tissue, which encourages the body’s natural ability to repair the socket. With this method, the socket heals, eliminating or minimizing the shrinkage and collapse of the surrounding hard and soft tissue. The newly formed bone in the socket provides a foundation for an implant to replace the tooth.
